When 400,000 men couldn’t get home, home came for them.

Dunkirk stars Fionn Whitehead, Aneurin Barnard, Mark Rylance, Harry Styles, Tom Hardy, Kenneth Branagh, James D’Arcy, Cillian Murphy, Barry Keoghan, Jack Lowden and Tom Glynn-Carney.

During World War 2, 400,000 British soldiers are stuck on the beach of Dunkirk as the German army closes in on them. Civilian boats, from England, are sent across the channel to pick up as many men as they can but they must survive the ongoing attacks in order to get back home.

Positives. I have been looking forward to this film for a long time, solely because of the director, Christopher Nolan, who continuously churns out great films. When it was announced that his next film was going to take on the story of Dunkirk, I knew we were going to get another visually stunning war film and it does not disappoint. All the action throughout the film looks fantastic, Nolan doesn’t like to use CGI so uses as much practical effects as possible and it does pay off, everything feels real which helps bring you into the film. I got to see this film in Imax and I think you have to see it in Imax to fully appreciate the film. The use of sound is fantastic and because Imax is so loud it feels like you are actually part of this film. It is incredibly intense and just non stop for the entire 1 hour, 40 minutes run time.

The only bad thing about the film is that if you are looking for character development and focus on characters, then you won’t get that with this film. It is all about the incredible, inspiring true story.

Christopher Nolan has done it once again. If possible, see it Imax I can’t recommend it highly enough.
