THE MARVELS TEASER

Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 is just a few weeks away, that brings around the first teaser for their next film The Marvels. The sequel to Captain Marvel, will see Carol Dancers (Brie Larsen) team up with Maria Rambeau/Spectrum (Teyonnah Parris) and Kamala Khan/Ms Marvel (Iman Vellani). The teaser doesn’t give much away about the plot but looks a lot of fun and a team up I can’t wait to see. We will have to wait til November unfortunately. The film also stars Samuel L Jackson, Zawe Ashton and Park Seo-Joon.

CREATURE COMMANDOS CAST

The new DCU will begin with Creature Commandos, the show is animated but features a stacked talented cast, and with promises of the cast crossing over into live action as James Gunn stipulated during his announcement of Chapter One of the DCU! Frank Grillo will play Rick Flag Sr, Maria Bakalova as Princess Ilana Rostovic, Indira Varma as The Bride, Zoe Chao as Nina Mazursky, Alan Tudyk as Dr Phosphorus, David Harbour as Eric Frankenstein, Sean Gunn playing dual roles as Weasel & GI Robot and Steve Agee returning to play John Economos.

MIA GOTH JOINS BLADE

Mia Goth had a strong 2022, picking up acclaim from the horror loving cinema audience with her performances in X and Pearl. Horror has also seemed to be the genre Goth has been drawn to, so it makes sense that when she is joining one of the big cinematic universes it will be in a film that’s likely to be more horror based. She joins Mahershala Ali, Delroy Lindo and Aaron Pierre in the cast with the film expected to begin production soon to meet its September 2024 release date.

MARIO BREAKS RECORDS

The Super Mario Bros movie has officially overtaken Frozen 2 to become the highest grossing opening weekend for an animated film. The film took in a whopping $377.5 Million over the course of its first weekend. This will place the film at a respectable 23rd when compared to all films, sitting between Captain America: Civil War and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. On a budget of a $100 million, which you roughly double for marketing, they’re already looking at $175 million profit so a sequel is extremely likely.

THE CONTINENTAL TEASER

The next part we get to see in the John Wick universe is the prequel series, The Continental. The teaser doesn’t give much away, only hinting at the action to look forward to, with such a high bar set for this universe, it’s hard not to look forward to seeing what they can bring to the smaller screen. The Continental is set to drop its 3 90 minute episodes in September on Prime Video in the UK or Peacock in America. The show stars Mel Gibson, Colin Woodell, Peter Greene, Nhung Kate and Katie McGrath.

THE MOTHER TRAILER

A first trailer for Netflix film, The Mother starring Jennifer Lopez, dropped earlier this week. The film looks like it will be full of action as Lopez plays an assassin trying to protect her daughter she was forced to give up. The Mother also stars Gael Garcia Bernal, Joseph Fiennes and Paul Raci and drops on Netflix May 12th.

TALK TO ME TRAILER

An A24 trailer is always worth taking note of. Talk to Me has already had screenings at a couple of film festivals sitting at a very impressive 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. The trailer promises a strong, terrifying horror breakout from directing twins, Danny and Michael Philippou (Better known as YouTubers RackaRacka) that could be one of the best horrors of 2023, when it is widely released in July.

THE LAST VOYAGE OF THE DEMETER TRAILER

If the trailer for this looks vaguely familiar to you then you might have watched BBC’s Dracula series which had an episode based on the chapter from Bram Stoker’s Dracula novel. The film follows a crew who are trapped on a boat with Dracula essentially. I’m a big fan of these types of films when there’s a crew trapped somewhere and getting picked off one by one. The horror for this one doesn’t hit quite as hard as the trailer to Talk to Me and I worry might end up missing with audiences and being a flop at the box office before doing okay on streaming. The Last Voyage of the Demeter drops August 11 in Cinemas and stars Liam Cunningham, Corey Hawkins, David Dastmalchian and Aisling Franciosi.

FOOL’S PARADISE TRAILER

Charlie Day’s directorial debut stars himself as a mute who is thrust into the limelight when he replaces an actor who he is the spitting image of. The film has a big cast of names including Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis, Katherine McNamara, Travis Fimmel, Ray Liotta, Ken Jeong, Kate Beckinsale, Adrien Brody, Jimmi Simpson, Common, John Malkovich and Jillian Bell. The film is set to release in the US on May 12th.
