THE MANDALORIAN S3 FINALE

We now have the final episode of season 3 of The Mandalorian. The hit Star Wars show has always been a huge hit with fans and the final episode of this season doesn’t disappoint. Plenty of action and some answered questions, maybe not the big moments that some expected but plenty of cheer worthy moments. This season has been a mixed bag but the final two episodes have been great. The next Star Wars show we get to see will be Ahsoka in August.

TWILIGHT SERIES IN THE WORKS

Just as Harry Potter was confirmed to be getting a reboot series last week, Twilight is set to get the same treatment. Author, Stephen Meyer will be involved in the creation and development of the show. Lionsgate has the rights to the books and will look for a platform to distribute on. It will likely be a decent bidding war between the big guns of streaming Netflix, Prime Video and AppleTV+ who all don’t have established brands like Disney+ and Max.

INSIDIOUS: THE RED DOOR TRAILER

The Insidious franchise went in the same direction as Paranormal Activity for me, where they kept churning up worse and worse entries after a strong start to the series. I really like the first two Insidious films but the two more recent ones have been more generic horror than anything else. The first trailer for Insidious: The Red Door returns us to the cast of the first two with now a much older Ty Simpkins attending college and still being haunted by the red door. Insidious: The Red Door stars Patrick Wilson (who is directing too), Rose Byrne and Ty Simpkins and will be in cinemas July 7th.

WICKED FIRST LOOK

Aside from a few pictures of sets, we have been kept quiet about the much anticipated movie adaptation of the hit musical, Wicked. These 2 first shots of Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, as Glinda and Elphaba, give us a small look of their characters and the setting of Oz, as there is now someone outside shooting happening at the moment so photos from the set have been leaked. The film also stars the recent Oscar winner, Michelle Yeoh and Jeff Goldblum and is still away with a November 2024 release date.

THE IDOL TRAILER

A24 always provides some of the most interesting and unique films and TV available. The latest trailer for their next series The Idol is set to be another big one, coming from creator Sam Levinson who also created Euphoria, one of the most critically acclaimed shows in recent years, with this show set to show off the less pleasant side of being a music star! The show stars Lily-Rose Depp, The Weeknd, Suzanna Son, Troye Sivan, Rachel Sennott, Jennie Kim, Dan Levy, Eli Roth and the first episode will drop on MAX (so likely Now in the UK) on June 4th.

JONATHON MAJORS DROPPED BY LABEL

Jonathan Majors recently got into an assault while out a couple of weeks ago, however at the time it seemed like he was innocent of the charges. Since then more people have come forward against the actor and things aren’t looking good for him. His label has dropped him as a client this week. It therefore wouldn’t be a surprise if Marvel are looking to recast the role of their latest big bad villain. Kang has a big role yet to be filled with appearances in Loki Season 2, which is set to be released later this year, as well as Avengers: Kang Dynasty which he would have a big role in. It’s still not known if Marvel will recast but multiple fans are already looking towards the likes of John Boyega to take on the role, my choice would be Kelvin Harrison Jr.

WHITE MEN CAN’T JUMP TRAILER

I haven’t watched the original White Men Can’t Jump but I do know it’s about Basketball and stars Woody Harrelson. This modern updated version is still about Basketball and looks good to be fair. I was pleasantly surprised by the trailer and how fun it looked as well as good chemistry between Jack Harlow and Sinqua Walls, and features a performance from the late Lance Reddick. The film drops on May 19th on Hulu in America, so expect a similar release date on Disney+ here in the UK.

ALL THE LIGHT WE CANNOT SEE TEASER

Netflix tends to drop their trailers not long before the release so the fact we have our first look at All the Light We Cannot See already when it’s release date isn’t until November is an odd one. The series is directed by Shawn Levy, who not only had a hand in Stranger Things, Free Guy and The Adam Project, but is also directing Deadpool 3, and this perhaps explains why Netflix are so prepared for this series to be a popular one, as well as it being based on a Pulitzer prize winning book about a blind french teenager and a German soldier whose paths cross during WW2.

THE BOOGEYMAN TRAILER

The yearly Stephen King horror has arrived. The Boogeyman had such a strong audience screening it managed to boost itself to a theatrical release when it was just going to be straight to Hulu. The trailer teases some interesting visuals and uniqueness at least that will likely give horror fans their horror fix. The Boogeyman stars Sophie Thatcher, David Dastmalchian, Chris Messina and Vivian Lyra Blair and doesn’t yet have a UK release date but would likely be June 2nd.
