DEADPOOL 3 RUMOURS

Deadpool 3 is one of the most anticipated films of 2024 bringing back Hugh Jackman as wolverine, and putting a bow on the end of the Fox universe of Marvel films, before Deadpool jumps over to the MCU. According to Daniel Richtman, it might not be the final appearance of Jackman in the role afterall. Richtman revealed on his patreon that Jackman met with Marvel Studios CEO Kevin Feige about lining up a big role in Avengers: Secret Wars, a role that would make sense as the story of Secret Wars typically brings heroes from multiple universes together.

Another rumour circluating Deadpool 3 this week was a rumoured cameo of Taylor Swift portraying mutant singer, Dazzler in the film, this report from The DisInsider. A rumour that would make sense due to the friendship between Swift and Ryan Reynolds, who previously lent Swift the Deadpool costume for Halloween, and Reynolds has cameod in one of her music videos.

FLORENCE PUGH IN TANGLED?

Pugh has often been fans favourite choice to play Rapunzel striking a resemblance to the version of the character we saw in Tangled. According to Daniel RPK, Disney think very similarly and have Pugh down as their top choice as well. It would be a fantastic get for the studio, Pugh is very well regarded in the industry and consistently puts out great performances in any film she is in.

HERCULES CASTING RUMOUR

Second Disney casting rumour of the week is for Hercules, a film that is a bit further down the pipeline at Disney with Guy Ritchie set to direct, David Callaham writing and the Russo brother’s producing. Casting for the lead roles has been rumoured for a little while but died down until this week when Toonado.com reports that Taron Egerton is being eyed for the lead role, a fantastic get given not just his physigue and charm but also incredible singing voice we have heard in Rocketman and in the Sing films. The other rumour should be no surprise given how much she has advocated for the role is Ariana Grande as Meg. Grande has gotten back into acting with her role in the upcoming Wicked adaptation, and also sung Meg’s song ‘I Won’t Say I’m in Love’ for the Disney Family Singalong in 2020.

HASBRO ENTERTAINMENT DIVISION

What did I say last week about companies getting the wrong idea from Barbie‘s box office success? Hasbro have launched an entertainment division to develop projects based on property they own. They already have existing films and series made for Transformers, GI Joe, Peppa Pig and earlier this year with Dungeons & Dragons. We also alrady have confirmed films in the works for Nerf, Play-Doh, My Little Pony and Magic: The Gathering, but expect more to be announced over the coming months and years as they just make anything they can in an attempt to copy Barbie.
