THE EXORCIST: BELIEVER TRAILER

The Exorcist is one of the most iconic horror films of all time, and had its fair share of attempts to recapture the horror the first one brought to many people, all failing to do so. We are certainly in an era of rebooting/requeling horror franchises and The Exorcist is the latest. The Exorcist: Believer will attempt to claim the halloween box office with this entry which actually looks pretty creepy. It will have to fight Five Nights at Freddy’s but honestly from the trailers alone, I have to say this one might take the pumpkin this year as what to watch on Halloween.

CHICKEN RUN: DAWN OF THE NUGGET TEASER

I don’t know how to feel about this one. Chicken Run is a film I’ve seen so many times and ever since they announced they were making a sequel so long after the original it just didn’t feel right to me. Aardman have been struggling at the box office so to turn to Netflix does make sense, and to go back to what could be considered their biggest success makes sense. This sequel does look good and sees the gang swapping out breaking out of prison essentially to performing a heist. There will certainly be a full trailer closer to the release on December 15th on Netflix.

TAYLOR SWIFT BREAKS BOX OFFICE

Taylor Swift isn’t typically someone I’d be speaking about on this site but she recently announced that her Eras Tour would be heading to the big screen, and has proceeded to break records in terms of pre sales, with many box office predictors saying that Swift will likely be set to rake in $100 million in the US during it’s opening, and has already broken the record for highest ever single-day adavnce ticket sales for AMC, and has taken a total of $37 million from pre sales overall in the first 24 hours, placing it second only behind Avengers: Endgame for the record. A film that will certainly help the box office admist the ongoing writers and actors strike, as studios continue to not fairly pay their workers, so they can’t currently promote their films.

THE HUNGER GAMES: THE BALLAD OF SONGBIRDS & SNAKES POSTERS

The first installment in the prequel films to The Hunger Games is just a couple of months away meaning it’s time we got some character posters, showcasing the stacked cast.

ROTTEN TOMATOES FAKE REVIEWS

For those of you that don’t know, Rotten Tomatoes is a very popular movie review website that doesn’t score films on a scale of how good they are, but rather on what percentage of people who have watched the film enjoyed it and gave it a positive score. The site has grown in popularity and become a good source for films to market their films on when they get high scores.

It was revealed yesterday by Vulture that a PR firm for a movie studios has been paying lesser known movie critics $50 or more to give the film a positive score, therefore increasing the percentage. This will very much tarnish the name of the site for people in the movie circle, but for the general public who aren’t aware of this scandal, nor care it probably won’t move people away from the site just yet. We should all just use Letterboxd let’s be honest.

Back to business, last week was chaotic with moving house and we are only half way through that full move, glad I could return to the regular scheduled programming. Not a trip to the cinema yet, but as always I hope to as soon as possible.
