BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE TRAILER

Beetlejuice is such a beloved film for a lot of people, however for me, I can appreciate it for what it is but wasn’t mind blown and love it like some. When it was announced that Tim Burton was working on a sequel, I was disappointed honestly. I like Burton’s work and the universes he creates, but at this stage of his career when it’s felt like he’s struggled to hit the heights he had during the 80s and 90s when he was able to release unique, creative films. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice just feels like a prime example of an attempt to get people back in cinemas with nostalgia. The trailer doesn’t give too much away but feels like an early 00’s trailer, with no particular jokes landing, I can see the film flopping and struggling to live up to the height some people have for it. I hope it’s great, I’m just not convinced so far.

MCU X-MEN MOVIE FINDS A WRITER

Marvel have been searching for a writer to bring the beloved mutants into their cinematic universe for quite a while, but this week they found the person for that job. Michael Lesslie has been brought in to, at the very least, write the first X-Men film for the universe. Of course, we are going to see X-Men characters in Deadpool & Wolverine in a couple of months time, and it is likely we will see them again at least in some capacity in one of the Avengers films that will be released before this X-Men film hits the screen. Lesslie hasn’t written too many projects before and his resume is a mixed bag. The notable projects include Macbeth (2016), Assassin’s Creed and The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, and is the writer for Now You See Me 3 and a modern adaptation of Hamlet starring Riz Ahmed. He’s certainly managed to get some big projects to his name, hopefully that can turn in some good writing and build some faith before X-Men takes to the screen in their own film in the MCU.

DAISY RIDLEY WANTS JOHN BOYEGA TO RETURN TO STAR WARS

Star Wars has taken a very firm back seat for Disney as they try to work out what to do with it and get fans back on board. Daisy Ridley is confirmed to return as Rey in Star Wars: New Jedi Order, not a favourite character for a lot of people after it was revealed she was a Palpatine in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker or some people already didn’t like her in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Like her or not, she will return, and Ridley wants John Boyega to return to his role of Finn as well. Boyega was a huge Star Wars fan before joining the universe, but has been outspoken about how much he didn’t like what they did with his character. The film has some fantastic writers attached, so if they can give Finn an interesting story then Boyega might consider it, but I think it will take a lot of convincing.

DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE TICKETS NOW ON SALE

A new teaser was released for Deadpool & Wolverine was released this week in conjuction with tickets now being on sale for the film at the end of July. The film is very highly anticipated, and this likely commences the beginning of the press tour for Reynolds and Jackman, as well as, what will likely become an onslaught of clips and other trailers, so if you don’t want the film to be spoiled, it’s time to block some words on twitter and prepared for the rumour mill to get even crazier, especially after the reshoots were rumoured to be to include more cameos. We will find out in a couple of months time.
