The untold story begins!

The Amazing Spider-Man stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Martin Sheen and Sally Field.

Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) is a bit of a geek in school and doesn’t have too many friends. His parents left him when he was younger with his Uncle Ben (Martin Sheen) and Aunt May (Sally Field). When Peter goes looking into what happens to his parents he makes his way to Oscorp to meet Dr Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans), who worked with Peter’s father. While trying to avoid attention, Peter ends up in a lab full of radioactive spiders and he is bitten by one and gains the ability to climb up walls and super fast reactions, he is always makes himself some web shooters and decides to fight crime under the name “Spider-Man”. A new threat arises in New York, a mysterious giant Lizard turns up and Peter must become a hero to stop The Lizard from turning everyone into a Lizard.

When it was announced that Sony were going to remake Spider-Man just 5 years after the disaster that was Spider-Man 3, everyone went “it is too soon”, clearly these people aren’t Spider-Man fans because I would watch Spider-Man over and over again. Spider-Man is my favourite comic book superhero and I really enjoyed the Tobey Maguire films but I felt like they made Spider-Man too serious. Spider-Man is the main thing this film got right! Andrew Garfield is perfect casting as Peter Parker and his passion for the character can be seen in any interview gave talking about. The comedic part of Spider-Man was spot on and so good to actually see on film. The Lizard was a pretty standard villain. I liked Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, that is perfect casting and the chemistry between Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield is very clear. Origin stories are really hard to do I think in movies, because you have to focus on the main character to get his whole story in about how he became this hero so that is why the villain lacks. I think this Spider-Man origin is as good as we are going to get on the big screen as it looks like that in the new Spider-Man in 2017 we will not be getting an origin, which can only be good news as we will actually get to focus on the villain more, as long as they don’t put too many villains in it.

Overall, I rate The Amazing Spider-Man 7/10! Because the villain is so weak, it brings the movie down and it takes so long for Peter to actually become Spider-man.
