ALIEN: ROMULUS TRAILER

There’s a few films left on my most anticipated for list, and one of the highest up there is Alien: Romulus and now we have our first full trailer for the film, the excitement is very much starting to build. Director, Fede Alvarez didn’t disappoint with Don’t Breathe and his remake of Evil Dead, both some of the better horror films of this decade. Alvarez recently said he wanted to blend both Alien and Aliens with this film, and the trailer certainly looks that way, teasing a full on return to the horror roots of the franchise which weren’t as present in Prometheus and Alien: Covenant. The trailer promises many terrifying moments and plenty of blood to be spilled by the Xenomorphs when the film hits cinemas in August. Watch the trailer here.

VENOM: THE LAST DANCE TRAILER

And then on the other hand there’s the trailer for this mess. I just care so little about this Sony Marvel Universe that I want to see the back of these films as quickly as possible. I hate the tone these films have, and none more so than with Venom, a character that represents a dark side of Spider-Man, that has been turned into a joke by Sony. Don’t even get me started on the mess of a multiverse that Sony are single handedly creating with these films. At the end of Venom: Let there be Carnage we saw Venom crossover into the MCU as he licked a screen of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, before he was immediately kicked at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, leaving behind a drop of symbiote. And in this trailer we see Chiwetel Ejiofor’s character inspect that leftover droplet which makes no sense unless we are doing some more multiverse hijinks which might explain why Rhys Ifans (played the Lizard in The Amazing Spider-Man) is in this trailer, but knowing Sony that might not be answered. At least it looks like Venom/Eddie Brock is going to die, presumably due to a deal they have with Marvel which will allow Venom/the symbiote to appear in the next Avengers or Spider-Man 4. Watch the trailer here.

THE BEATLES CASTING

Since it was announced that there were going to be multiple films about The Beatles, one film for each of the members, being told from their perspective and about their life, the internet has been ablaze casting who they should take on the most famous band of all time. Screenrant have reportedly got the casting for each of the members with Harris Dickinson (Triange of Sadness, The Iron Claw) playing John Lennon, Paul Mescal (Aftersun, Normal People) as Paul McCartney, Charlie Rowe (Rocketman, Slow Horses) as George Harrison, and finally, Barry Keoghan (Saltburn, The Banshees of Inisherin) as Ringo Starr. Strong casting across the board, this feels likely to be true and realistic as these will be big films being led by Sam Mendes.

ELLE FANNING VS PREDATOR

Dan Trachtenberg had good success with his recent Predator film, Prey and has been handed the reigns to this franchise steering it into whatever direction he pleases, so much so he is working on multiple Predator projects at the same time. Variety confirmed this week that he is still working on a sequel to Prey, as well as working on one titled Badlands which will be set in the future rather than in the past, and it will be Elle Fanning that has been cast to take on the challenge of stopping the Predators. Hopefully, Badlands will at least get a cinema release, because I’m already very excited for it.
