Deadpool Review (No Spoilers)

With great power comes great irresponsibility.

Deadpool stars Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein, T.J. Miller, Gina Carano and Brianna Hildebrand.

When mercenary, Wade Wilson finds out that he has cancer, an organisation approaches him a special treatment in order to attempt to cure him and give him super powers. He gains healing powers but at a cost. With his new powers, he makes himself a costume and takes the name Deadpool. He tracks down the organisation in order to try and cure him completely.

The marketing for Deadpool was so perfect that I went into the film with high expectations and I was not left disappointed. This movie gave us the perfect Deadpool, that we have been dying to see on the big screen. Ryan Reynolds is perfect as the merc with a mouth and his passion for the character really comes through and you can’t help but be happy for him. The other performances were good but didn’t stand out as much as Reynolds. I loved seeing proper Colossus on the screen and the portrayal of the character was perfect and I also really liked Negasonic Teenage Warhead, who I knew nothing about going in, but came out loving.

If you know Deadpool from the comics, you know how funny he is and the film continues this tradition with the millions of Easter eggs hidden and the perfect comedy for Deadpool, which you see in the trailer. I know people that were worried that the trailer gave away the best jokes, but it certainly didn’t there are a lot more laughs to be had.

This film isn’t completely perfect though. The villain is a bit forgettable and not all the jokes worked for me. The CGI was also noticeable at times but this is understandable considering the low budget of the film, so I imagine that in the sequel that it will be improved dramatically. The film does a lot right so it can be forgiven for these problems.

(Also stay for the end of the credits)

Overall, I rate Deadpool 9/10! Can’t wait to see the next outing for everyone’s newest favourite anti hero.
