The Revenant Review

Man versus BEAR!

The Revenant stars Leonardo Di Caprio, Tom Hardy, Domhnall Gleeson, Will Poulter and Forrest Goodluck.

Whilst exploring, huntsman Hugh Glass (Leonardo Di Caprio) is brutally attacked by a bear and sustains severe injuries. Glass is left to die by his team, but he uses his survival skill to keep himself alive. With revenge on the mind, Glass looks to track the man who is responsible for abandoning him and leaving him to die, John Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy).

The single best part of the film are the performances by everyone involved. Leo, obviously, went on to win Best Leading Male at the Oscars and it was very well deserved! His character goes through hell to track this guy down. While watching the film, you really feel for Glass and you just feel sorry for him as nothing seems to go in his favour. Tom Hardy is one of my favourite actors and he is one of the best around, and once again he smashes it as the main antagonist of the film. The voice he chose to do for the role can be a bit difficult to understand at times, but because his performance is so good you get used to it.

With Alejandro G Inarritu directing you knew that you were going to get a visually fantastic film. The shots of the landscape were breath taking and the cinematography was fantastic. I love how smoothly the camera flows and the way they used natural sound worked very well. The score was a bit distracting and didn’t always fit in with the film.

Overall, I rate The Revenant 8/10! It is a film I highly recommend to watch just because of the performances but I was a bit let down by the performances. I still think that Ex Machina should have one best film.

What did you think of The Revenant? Did Leo deserve to win the oscar?
