Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Review (No Spoilers)

Batman V Superman V Wonder Woman V Lex Luther

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons and Amy Adams.

Metropolis has returned to its former glory after being destroyed by Superman and General Zod. However, the public can not decide if Superman is good or bad. Bruce Wayne has his opinion set after his building was destroyed in the attack and seeks revenge on the Man of Steel. While the duo are trying to sort each other out, Lex Luther is plotting on how he can stop both of them and gain as much power as possible.

Let’s start with the positives. When Ben Affleck was cast as Batman, I admit that I was one of the people that was not sure about the choice, however with each trailer I was more and more convinced that he would be a great choice for Bruce Wayne, and he is. He is the clear standout from the film. They completely got Batman spot on! The only thing that slightly bothered me initially was that he does kill a few people, but I then remembered that this is a Batman that had been fighting for 20 years. When he wasn’t killing people, I thought that they nailed the rest of the fighting and it is the best fighting we have seen by any live action Batman. There were rumours, a few months ago, that the studio had changed the film so that we got more Batman and it does feel more like a Batman film than anything else, and I think that it is a good thing, I am very excited to see more of this Batman.

Don’t go into this film with high expectations. Do not think that you are going to see Batman and Superman fighting a lot because they don’t. They don’t really fight until the last 30 minutes and it is very frustrating. This film has just squashed together too much and some of it is needless, when a film is 2 and a half hours long it needs to flow and it doesn’t. The opening when you see the battle in Man of Steel from Bruce Wayne’s perspective was really good then it turns into a Batman film, Man of Steel sequel, Batman V Superman movie and the Dawn of the Justice League smashed altogether. You can really tell that DC are trying to catch up with Marvel, which is very annoying because if they had split the movie into different movies and had more time focusing on building the universe instead of trying to do it all at once I think it could be a success. The biggest excitement from he film was Batman fighting and the Suicide Squad trailer. I think that the future of DC looks good and they aren’t in trouble, hopefully Justice League isn’t such a mess.

Overall, I rate Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice 6/10! Don’t be too disheartened, I have seen some people absolutely loving this movie.
