DUNE: PART TWO TRAILER

Last week we got a few first images from the highly anticipated sequel to Dune, and now we have the first trailer. The epic trailer teases us picking up exactly where the first film left off, as well as introducing Florence Pugh and Austin Butler’s characters who will both likely have a big role in the film, as well as teasing Paul riding on the back of a giant space worm! This one will definitely be a huge hit, and is firmly my most anticipated film of the rest of the year. Dune: Part Two will arrive in cinemas in November.

GRAN TURISMO TRAILER

Video Game adaptations are thriving at the moment with the recent success of The Super Mario Bros Movie and The Last of Us. Gran Turismo is simply a racing game with no story as such so Neil Blomkamp has had to come up with one for this one featuring David Harbour and Orland Bloom. The trailer spoils the whole film, which won’t be a surprise when you see it’s being made by Sony. Gran Turismo will race into cinemas August 11th.

FANTASTIC FOUR CASTING RUMOURS

A slow news week means I’m dipping into the rumour mill. The highly anticipated Fantastic Four reboot is set to go into early production later this year. Ever since it was announced, every name under the sun has seemingly been attached to have a role.

Adam Driver has popped up as a clear front runner for Reed Richards/Mr Fantastic in recent weeks and seems to almost be locked in for the role. Driver is an incredible actor and deserves the big role, and I’m honestly glad he would get to this role instead of the obvious one he could’ve done as Dr Doom, which would’ve felt like him retreading his Kylo Ren ground.

A bigger surprise was the fact that Margot Robbie has quickly become a favourite to take on the role as The Invisible Woman. Robbie has had big success as Harley Quinn in multiple films, and is known for that role, but with the shake up at DC it makes sense that the role could be recast as Robbie gets older.

Paul Mescal is one of Hollywood’s most sought after actors at the moment. His performance in Aftersun earned him an early Oscar nomination in his career. Marvel would do well to tie him down before someone else gets him signed up for a big role in a cinematic universe. He would be a great choice for the Human Torch and I don’t think anyone could argue otherwise.

The most bizarre rumour came from when director Matt Shakman met up with Mila Kunis, attaching her to the project. People immediately had her down as Invisible Woman, but recent rumours actually have Marvel gender swapping the role of Ben Grimm/The Thing. This one seems the most unbelievable, but would balance out the team in terms of diversity. It seems more likely the role will go elsewhere but no-one seems to be as clear of a front runner as the other roles.

KARL URBAN AS JOHNNY CAGE

The first Mortal Kombat teased, at the very end of the film, that Cole Young (Lewis Tan) was on his way to Hollywood, where he would find a certain actor and beloved character from the game. Multiple big names were hoped for by fans to take up the role, including, perhaps unrealistically, Ryan Reynolds. Karl Urban has had a recent renaissance after his role as Billy Butcher in The Boys, and feels like he would bring a similar energy to the role of Johnny Cage. Not the casting I would’ve gone due to the similarity, but certainly not a bad one.
